After You is the long awaited sequel to the bestseller Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. It tells the story of Louisa Clark, and what happens to her after Will Traynor’s death.
Louisa’s life was turned upside down when meeting Will Traynor. And once again when letting him go. She has found herself a new job in an airport bar, lives in an apartment in London, and is not speaking to her parents anymore.
Then one night, someone knocks on her door. Will the stranger be able to help Louisa, or bring only trouble? Her promise to live has to be kept, and in order to do so she has to answer the door. What she finds will change her life once again.
After reading Me Before You, I couldn’t not read the sequel. When I finished it, I felt like everything that was off during the beginning had fallen into place. It’s done, the story’s over, and it was the best ending Jojo could’ve given her readers.
Just like the first book, I devoured it within 36 hours. I just could not put it away; I needed to know what was going to happen next. The occasional change of perspective, which was introduced in Me Before You, also occurred in After You, giving the story a slightly broader impression.A nice extra!
For everyone who has not read Me Before You or After You yet: get your asses over to the nearest bookstore and get yourself a copy. The books are both an absolute must-read: they are sweet, heartwarming, devastating, funny, and everything more.
